“I visit music stores on a regular basis as something fun to do. I test drive Martins every chance I get. To me, playing a Martin is like driving a classic Jaguar.” – Larry S Warfield

    The Martin Acoustic-Electric Guitar

A Martin GPC-28E glanced my way from the rack, offering a sweet test drive. I ran my hand up and down the neck. It felt cool and fast, the cutaway giving easy reach to the top frets. I escorted her into a practice room where I could give her a good test drive.

The East Indian Rosewood body was warm and sensuous, comfortable in my arms. I strummed a jazzy chord. The rich warm tone purred like the throaty idle of a classic Jaguar Roadster, promising to do anything I could imagine. The tricky intro to one of my original songs charged effortlessly down the mountain hugging every curve.

    Classic Martin Construction

The Grand Performance Martin GPC-28E designed for the expert acoustic guitarist who wants the absolute best tone,

comfort, and speed possible with a Grand Performance body style and a natural DI sound for the stage and studio. It has “timeless classic Martin construction, dynamic acoustic appointments, and powerful Fishman electronics combine for blossoming arpeggios and throaty chords.”

    Special Balance and Projection

The Martin GPC-28E offers the special balance and projection of a Sitka spruce top on an East Indian rosewood body. The scalloped forward-shifting X-bracing yields supreme resonance. The body style provides a warm tone that is never booming plus detail that is never harsh. The unique sound is popular for both fingerpicking and full-chord strumming.

    Grand Performance Body

The Grand Performance body features a sleek cutaway for higher fret access. The neck is designed from specially selected

hardwood, with a modified low oval profile and high-performance taper. It is specifically designed for smooth and comfortable playing while maintaining even, powerful tones across the black ebony fretboard. It showcases abalone diamond and square long pattern inlay, space out between the 20 frets and a faux tortoise pickguard adorning the spruce front.

The body style has a bigger low end than many other models, but it is supremely comfortable for slinging over your shoulder night after night. Many professionals state that it fits comfortably on their shoulders and is exceptionally versatile.

The GPC-28E steps away from the classic design of spruce tops with solid mahogany backs and sides to go in a bold new direction with back and sides made from East Indian rosewood. This gives the GPC-28E a wider tonal range with excellent projection and articulation. The clear articulation will breathe life into any arrangement.

    Powerful Fishman Electronics

Fishman electronics, one of the most popular choices for acoustics, are found in many different styles of guitars. Their quality and efficacy can be trusted without question. The Fishman Aura VT Enhance electronics, in the GPC-28E, has a pickup/preamp combo that perfectly amplifies your sound in any setting. The tone adjustments are made with knobs in the soundhole, preserve the perfect, clean aesthetic of this Martin.

    The Practice Room

Lost in the music, I played one song after another losing all track of time. The Martin seemed to mold into my arms as if it had always been there.

Professional musicians talk about their Martins as if they are their best friend. Now, I understand.

I noticed some of the lights had been turned off. Closing time already? It seemed like I had just started playing. I heard a knock on the door, “Closing in 15 minutes. Would you like us to ring her up for you?”
